Title	Northern Electric R.R. Bridge Over Sacramento River, Sacramento, California
Date	1915
Description	This 1915 postcard shows the Northern Electric Railroad's bridge, spanning the Sacramento River at M Street. Built of steel in 1911, and supported by five piers that penetrated as much as 60 feet below the river bed, the structure boasted a single railway, twin roadways and pedestrian walks. The bridge was built by the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company, which was criticized for unfair wage practices, an accusation that slowed the structure's early construction. The span was replaced in 1935 by the Tower Bridge.
