A

sprouted
in the
1980’s
and
1990’s
.
Along
with a
host
of
new
state
government
buildings
,
city
developers
helped
to
build
new
office
spaces
for a
growing
downtown
workforce
as
well
as for
cultural
needs
. The
Renaissance
Tower
,
standing
at
28
stories
tall
was
built
in
1989
.
Older
buildings
in the
downtown
area
underwent
extensive
renovations
, as
well
as the
city
library
. The
new
library
renovations
included
an
expansive
galleria
and the
establishment
of a
room
devoted
to
Sacramento
History
.
