superintendent

Far
from an
easy
task
,
Evans
was
forced
to
test
several
varieties
of
roses
against
Sacramento's
scorching
summer
temperatures
.
Insisting
on
providing
signage
for
both
the
English
and
Latin
monikers
for
each
plant
,
it
was
Evan's
belief
the
garden
should be
educational
and a
place
where
"
Sacramentans
interested
in
flowers
and
plants
may
come
to
study
their
culture.
"
