Each
pulled
by
four
horses
, the
chariots
are
pushing
their
way
south
along
the
west
stretch
of the
track
. The
race
was
part
of the
three-day-long
Sacramento
’49
Roundup
, a
rodeo
event
which
brought
many
of the
American
West’s
best
horsemen
to the
Capital
City
. The
chariot
event
consisted
of
four
different
teams
,
each
competing
for a
cash
prize
of
1,000
dollars
. In the
background
is
the
Fair’s
Agricultural
Building
.
