Title	Grand Electric Carnival from Tenth and K Streets
Date	1895
Description	This 1895 photograph shows an illuminated downtown Sacramento during the Grand Electric Carnival. Strings of lights and a glowing golden bear dangle over the street, enlightening street car tracks, American flags and several businesses. Taken from the intersection of Tenth and K Streets, looking west, the picture shows, to the left, the State House Hotel at 930 K Street; to the right is the Hotel Normandie at 931 K Street. The festival was held on Admission Day, September 9, 1895, to celebrate the 22-mile transmission of hydroelectric power from Folsom to Sacramento on July 13 of the same year.
