Description	Taken from the south, this May 1956 aerial photograph captures Sacramento High School at Thirty-Fourth and W Streets. Y Street runs east- west in the foreground while Thirty-Fourth Street runs north-south to the far left of the photograph. The gymnasium sits to the left of the picture. The assembly building is at the bottom of the photograph, just off of Y Street, and academic buildings stand in the center of the photograph. First situated at Ninth and M Streets, Sacramento High School is thought to be the second oldest public high school west of the Mississippi River, having been founded in 1856. The photographed location, shot by “Sacramento Bee” photographer Bob Handsacker, a 1928 graduate of the school, was opened in 1924.
