Title	William Land School Orchestra
Date	1922
Description	This May 5, 1922 photograph shows the William Land School orchestra. The school's performance was part of a citywide celebration known as "Sacramento Music Week" which enlisted schools, churches and clubs, to play in both public (Southside Park) and private venues. The event was held concurrently with "Days of '49" festivities, an homage to Sacramento's Gold Rush origins. As for the school, it opened in 1915 and named for late hotelier William Land, the Sacramento Bee, felt the distinction appropriate for "the late William Land for his generosity in leaving a fund for the poor of the city."
