This
1942
photograph
shows
cans
being
unloaded
at the
Bercut
Richards
cannery
warehouse
. The
cans
were
manufactured
in
Oakland
and
transported
to
Sacramento
by
rail
. This
shows
cans
being
unloaded
at the
Bercut-Richards
Packing
Company
. An
entire
boxcar
could
be
unloaded
in a
couple
of
hours
by
two
men
using
the
process
pictured
. The
man
completely
in
view
is
holding
a
can
"
fork.
" The
long-handled
bar
had a
number
of
pegs
to
fit
the
stacked
cans
and
lift
and
move
them
easily
to the
conveyor
belt
.
