This

photograph
provides
a
view
of the
California
State
Fair's
Poultry
Building
. The
25,000
square
foot
structure
was
built
by
Sacramento
contractors
Guth
and
Fox
in
1931/32
for a
cost
of
75,000
dollars
. The
interior
included
portable
coops
and
pens
, and a
central
pool
for
water
fowl
.
Designed
by
Alfred
Eichler
,
upon
completion
,
it
was
regarded
to "be the
finest
exposition
hall
of its
kind
of any
state
fair
plant
in the
country.
" The
structure
was
later
converted
into the
fair's
Art
Building
. The
tower
of the
Machinery
Hall
looms
in the
background
.
