at
time
of this
photograph
. The
4-4-0
“Jupiter”
was
built
at the
Schenectady
,
New
York
,
Locomotive
Works
just
a
year
earlier
,
disassembled
and
sent
by
ship
to
San
Francisco
. In the
foreground
are
several
Conestoga
wagons
,
heading
west
.
