chosen
as the
site
for a
Women's
Army
Auxiliary
Corps
(WAAC)
signal
training
center

while
in
1945

school
(then
also a
Junior
College)
purchased
four
military
planes
with the
intent
of
forming
a
ground
school
for
flight
training
. The
planes
were a
P-38
Lightning

P-51
Mustang

B-17
Flying
Fortress
, and a
B-24
Liberator
.
