Description	This 1930 photograph shows a rider and horse jumping an obstacle at the Hagginwood Riding Ring. The venue - based at the California National Guard's Battery D, 143rd Field Artillery barracks - opened in October 1929 to a crowd of over 400 horse enthusiasts. The event included a ceremonial flag raising and horse show, featuring over 50 area riders, a polo match and a tour of the barracks' French-made 75-millimeter guns, machine guns, and fire control equipment. The 65-man unit's armory was built in 1927 and its stables could hold 50 horses.
