Description	The storefront of the Fashion Bootery at 702 K Street is shown in this 1942 photograph. Opened in December 1929, the 50,000 dollar store became the ninth West Coast location for the company, based in Seattle. The 20 foot by 100 foot structure possessed a high ceiling, from which hanged black and white “modernistic” lighting fixtures, shaped in various different angles. Walls were painted tan, rose and green, while green-colored seating could handle up to sixty patrons. In spite of a fire that required the attendance of three engines, the company recovered.
