. The
store
had
just
stepped
into its
new
808
K
Street
location
in
September
of
1921
. The
six-floor
structure
,
previously
known
as the
Cowan
building
, was
refit
with
elegant
lighting
,
drapery
,
floor
coverings
, and
show
windows
for
65,000
dollars
.
Once
done
, the
company
claimed
that
it
was the
largest
store
of its
kind
in the
United
States
outside
of
New
York
City
.
