Title	Pacific Gas and Electric Company Building
Date	1941
Description	This photograph of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company building at 1100 K Street was taken on July 12, 1941. Set on the southeast corner of Eleventh and K Streets, the structure was built in 1912/13 as an administrative hub. It was made of pressed brick, was framed with steel and presented a terra cotta exterior. The first two floors were dedicated to general company offices and the third and fourth floors as the headquarters for the manager and other administrative officials. The original building plan called for a second floor showroom for PG and E products. However, with the city and county’s pre-war growth, the company felt a need to increase its office space. Zinke’s Shoe Renewing Corporation is visible to the lower left. Also visible are tracks for the street car service.
