This

Sixteenth
Street
Bridge
after
its
widening
and
extension
. The
bridge
was
originally
constructed
in
1915
,
spanning
600-feet
of the
American
River
bank-to-bank
, for
125,000
dollars
. The
State
of
California
approved
150,000
dollars
for its
reconstruction
in
1934/35
.
It
was
reopened
for
travel
in
January
of
1935
. The
Northgate
Boulevard
underpass
on the
north
bank
of the
American
River
is
visible
at the
bottom
of the
photograph
.
