In this

visitors

their

the
southern
entrance
to
Sutter's
Fort
,
located
at
Twenty-Sixth
and
K
streets
.
Built
in
1839
, and
after
a
long
period
of
dormancy
, the
fort
was
opened
as a
museum
in
1893
. Its
walls
measure
two-and-a-half
feet
thick
and
stand
15
to
18-feet
tall
.
